THE date for Kawerau’s 2015 Woodfest has shifted this year to entice school holiday visitors to the region and take advantage of improved spring weather.

Kawerau District Council learned the new dates at a meeting on Tuesday last week. The three-day event, normally held on the second weekend of September, has moved to September 25, 26 and 27.

Events and community activities team leader Lee Barton said the weekend coincided with the start of school holidays.

He said many people might be thinking of a holiday in the Eastern Bay to take advantage of early summer sunshine and the event would add another reason to visit the region.

The new date also improved the chance of the event coinciding with nice weather, Mr Barton said.
