Onepu Park Closure

Date published: April 3, 2013 at 12:54 pm | Comments

Knights Forest, also known as Onepu Park, will be closed to all users from Monday 6th May 2013 for a period of approximately six weeks, so the forest owner (Norske Skog Tasman) can conduct a forest thinning operation.

During this time, there is to be no entry for recreation except for on weekends.

This closure is in the interests of ensuring safety to members of the public and to ensure that the forestry operation can be concluded as efficiently as possible.

It should also be noted that the weekend prior to the start of the closure (4/5 May) is the start of the duck shooting season.

Lake Tamurenui, which neighbours Knights Forest, is a popular duck shooting lake.  For the duration of duck shooting season the walking and mountain bike track known as “Oh Mai Mai” will be closed for safety and courtesy reasons, as it was for duck shooting in 2012.
