Kawerau’s Logan Robertson has been awarded a Bay of Plenty Education Trust scholarship worth $5,750.

Logan, who last year completed his studies at Tarawera College, heads off this year to Victoria University to study geology and geo-physics. He was one of six Eastern Bay of Plenty students to receive the Trust’s Science, Technology and Emerging Industries Scholarship. Twelve Western Bay of Plenty Students are also scholarship winners.

The scholarships are for exemplary students planning to pursue tertiary education in the general fields of science and technology.

To date, 201 scholars have been awarded the scholarship, meaning a total gifting of more than $100,000.  Recipients are announced each year, with the scholarships made on the recommendation of school principals and/or Year 13 Deans. One scholarship is awarded to Tarawera College each year.
